Four famous faces, two narrow boats and a long stretch of water…These are the key ingredients to this gentle and jolly jaunt up two of Britain’s prettiest waterways. Lorraine Chase, Nigel Havers, Debbie McGee and Simon Callow begin in their journey in Bath to explore the Kennet and Avon Canal. It is a rare opportunity for these National Treasures to take a break from their punishing schedules and live life at 4 miles per hour. Against a backdrop of the most beautiful countryside in England, they have time to reflect and unwind, passing by historic locks, impressive aqueducts and centuries old villages.
As barging beginners, we’ll learn with them as they come to terms manoeuvring a 40 foot boat, work the locks and immerse themselves in traditional boat culture. Will they take the opportunity to slow down, relax, enjoy the countryside or will our tired workaholic stars find it impossible with so little to do, set adrift with no schedule to keep and no distractions?
